THE FAIRTRADE LABORATORY “DA TUTTI I PAESI” (which means From all countries) is an Italian charity project. It was created in 1995 by Casa Betania, an uncommon foster home based in Rome.
The Laboratory is a place of exchange and untiring activity, a unique experience of dialogue and combined effort, and a successful fairtrade worldshop.
It is run by several women, both immigrants and italian, most of them mothers, who have been temporarily living in the foster home. They carry out a work of creativity, learning new techniques, living in a protected environment founded on social participation, trust and understanding. They receive a fair pay, which enables them to sustain their family with dignity.
